Team India Squad for T20 World Cup 2021

India stands at the second position of Cricket ICC rankings with 2987 points which have won the T20 World Cup in 2007 under the captainship of Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS. Dhoni).

India defeated Pakistan in the 2007 T20 finals at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Since the inaugural of the T20 World Cup in 2007, India has been in this event every year as a tough competitor for every country.

Team India had a chance to win the event two times in 2014 against Sri Lanka but was defeated by six wickets.

Similarly, in 2016, India became the host of the T20 World Cup in Kolkata, which was won his West Indies with a runner-up by England.

For the 2021 T20 World Cup India Squad, 15 talented players were selected by BCCI, while Yuzvendar Chahal and Shikhar Dhawan were dropped down.

However, former Captain, MS Dhoni, is announced to return to cricket as a mentor to help and support the Captain, Virat Kohli.

1. Virat Kohli (Captain)

Virat Kohli is currently the best and leading cricketer in India who has won the most man of the match awards five times in the T20 World Cup.

Kohli represents the Captain of the team India in the T20 World Cup with a shirt number of 18.

Also, he is the only player to have won 2 man of the tournament awards. Kohli is a Right-handed batsman and Right-arm medium bowler who made his debut as a National player in 2008.

2. Rohit Sharma (Vice-Captain)

Rohit Gurunath Sharma, who represents as the vice-captain of the T20 World Cup, is a right-handed batsman and right-arm off-break bowler who is also recognized as the opening batsman of India.

Sharma made his national debut in 2007 who represents with a shirt number of 45.

This Indian cricketer holds the record for the highest individual score by a batsman in a one-day international match with 264 scores against Sri Lanka. Sharma has also appeared on every single T20 World Cup since its inaugural in 2007.

3. KL Rahul

Kananur Lokesh Rahul (KL Rahul) is a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium bowler who also represents himself as a wicket-keeper batsman.

Rahul made his national team debut in 2014 who represents with a shirt number of 1.

He won the Orange Cap during the IPL 2020, scoring 670 runs. As known, KL Rahul will be one of the frontrunners as the opening batsman alongside vice-captain Rohit Sharma in the T20 World Cup 2021.

4. Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Ashok Yadav is a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium, off-spin bowler who made his national team debut in 2021.

Talented Indian cricketer Yadav is also going to make his debut in T20 World Cup this year. He represents with a t-shirt number of 63.

Yadav was named the India’s squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in September 2021.

5. Rishabh Pant (wk)

Rishabh Rajendra Pant is a left-handed batsman who plays as a middle-order wicket-keeper-batsman. Pant made his National team debut in 2017 and currently plays for the domestic team, Delhi Capitals.

This young 24-year-old Indian cricketer is the 2nd youngest to hit a century in the IPL after Manish Pandey.

Pant is named in India’s squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in September 2021, which is going to be his first T20 World Cup debut.

6. Ishan Kishan (wk)

Ishan Pranav Kumar Pandey Kishan, aka Ishan Kishan, is a left-handed batsman who plays as the wicket-keeper-batsman.

7. Hardik Pandya

9. Rahul Chahar

Rahul Desraj Chahar is a right-handed batsman and right-arm leg break bowler who made his National team debut in 2019.

Chahar represents with a jersey number 28 and is currently playing for Rajasthan and Mumbai Indians as domestic teams.

Rahul was named in the India’s squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup for the first time as he will make his T20 World Cup debut in UAE and Oman.

10. Ravicharan Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin is a right-handed batsman and right-arm off-break bowler who plays as a bowling all-rounder.

Ashwin made his National team debut in 2010 who represents with a jersey number 99. As of current, he plays for Tamil Nadu and Delhi Capitals domestic teams.

Ashwin is the fastest Indian bowler to reach 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, and 400 wickets milestone. Also, he was named in the Team of the Tournament for the 2014 T20 World Cup by the ICC and Cricinfo.

11. Shardul Thakur

Shardul Narendra Thakur is a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium-fast bowler who usually plays as a bowler.

Thakur made his National team debut in 2017 who represents with a jersey number of 54.

Shardul was one of the three reserve players in India’s squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in September 2021. But, on the 13th of October, he took the place of Axar Patel in India’s main squad.

12. Varun Chakravarthy

Varun Chakravarthy Vinod is a right-handed batsman and right-arm leg break bowler who often plays as a bowler.

Chakravarthy made his national team debut in early 2021 and was selected for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in September 2021.

13. Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Jasbirsingh Bumrah is a right-handed batsman and right-arm fast bowler who is one of the only three fast bowlers in the India’s squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Bumrah made his National team debut in 2016, who currently plays for domestic team Gujarat and Mumbai Indians with a jersey number of 93.

14. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar Singh is a right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler who is a white-ball specialist.

Kumar made his National team debut in 2012, representing a jersey number of 15. He currently plays for domestic teams Uttar Pradesh and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

15. Mohd Shami

Mohammed Shami Ahmed is a right-handed batsman and right-arm fast bowler who represents a fast bowler.

Shami made his National team debut in 2013, representing himself with a jersey number of 11.

Mohd currently plays for domestic teams Bengal and Punjab Kings. Although Shami was not an automatic pick for the 2021 T20 World Cup, he was picked at number four among the bowling choices.
