Westbrook married his college sweetheart Nina Earl on August 29, 2015. They both have a kid named Noah Russell Westbrook, born on May 16, 2017.

Russell Westbrook – Basketball Career
High School Career
Westbrook was appointed point guard while studying in Leuzinger High School. He was 5 feet 8 inches tall then and had a weight of 140 pounds (64kg) with a large feet size of 14. However, he was not included in his school’s varsity team until his junior year.
He received his college recruitment letter until the summer before his senior year. That summer, Westbrook grew to his adult height of 6 feet 3 inches.
While Westbrook was in his senior year he registered 14 double-doubles and scored 30 or more points about eight different times.
Westbrook was not considered for any top college basketball programs until head coach Ben Howland offered him a scholarship to play for the UCLA Bruins after Jordan Farmer announced his decision for NBA draft.
As a freshman during the 2006-2007 season, Westbrook played as a backup to Daren Collision and as a defender.
He adorned the number 0 jersey throughout his career at UCLA. After spending two years at UCLA, he decided to enter the 2008 NBA draft and skipped his final two years in college.

Oklahoma City Thunder (2008–present)
The Seattle SuperSonics later known as the Oklahoma Thunder six days after relocating to Oklahoma City selected Westbrook as its 4th overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft.
He officially signed with the team on July 5, 2008, and recorded his first career triple-double on March 2, 2009.
He became the first rookie since Chris Paul and the third in Sonics/Thunder franchise history to record a triple-double.
He came fourth in the NBA rookie of the Year voting and was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team.
All-Star and playoff successes (2010-2013)
After an incredible performance in the 2010-2011 season, Westbrook was selected by the NBA head coaches to be a Western Conference reserve for the 2011 NBA All-Star Game, marking his first All-Star appearance.
He was named to the All-NBA Second Team for the first time after a wonderful performance. Westbrook was selected by the NBA coaches to take part in the 2012 NBA All-Star Game.
In the 2011-2012 season, after putting up a spectacular performance he was voted to the All-NBA Second Team for the second consecutive time.

Before the start of the 2013-2014 season, Westbrook had another surgery on his right knee delaying his return to basketball.
It was reported that Westbrook will miss two weeks of the season but missed the first two games. On December 25, 2013, he corded the eight triple-double on Christmas Day in NBA history in a 123-94 victory over the New York Knicks where he registered 14 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists.
The next day, it was declared that Westbrook will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee which will see him out of play until the All-Star break.
The Oklahoma Thunder still remained a formidable contender as Kevin Durant filled the void left by Westbrook’s absence.
Westbrook Comeback in 2014
He returned to action on February 20, 2014, though played the remainder of the season on limited minutes.
He recorded his second triple-double of the season in a game against the Philadelphia 76ers, which was the second fastest triple-double recorded in NBA history.
The Oklahoma Thunder advanced to the Western Conference Finals.
In game 4 of the finals in a victory over the San Antonio Spur Westbrook registered 20 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals, joining Michael Jordan as the only players to register such numbers in a playoff game.
Session (2014 – 2015)
In a season opener game of the 2014-2015 against the Portland Trail Blazers Westbrook registered 38 points.
The next game against the Los Angeles Clippers he sustained a minor fracture of the second metacarpal in his right hand which made him miss 14 games.
He joined Kevin Durant who also suffered a fracture in his right foot during preseason and was out of play for eight weeks. In the absence of both players the Oklahoma Thunder dropped in form.
However, in a comeback game against the New York Knicks, he led the team to a victory with 32 points.

On February 24, 2015, he registered 20 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in a win over the Indiana Pacers, claiming his third triple-double of the season and 11th of his career.

He became the first player since Michael Jordan in 1989 to secure four consecutive triple-doubles and to have back to back triple-doubles with a minimum of 40 points.

MVP and first triple-double season (2016-2017)
After Kevin Durant’s departure and with Westbrook contract set to expire in 2017, the Oklahoma Thunder held off trade talks to work out a contract extension. Westbrook signed a three-year contract extension worth $95.7 million with the Thunder on August 4, 2016.
He recorded 38th career regular-season triple-double in a win over the Phoenix Sun with 51 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists which made him the first 50-point triple-double since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1975 on October 28.
On October 30th he scored 33 points, 12 rebounds and 16 assists in a win over the LA Lakers which made him joined the ranks of Robertson, Magic Johnson and Jerry Lucas as the only players in NBA history with two triple-double in the first three games of a season.
Forty-one games into the season, he became the first player to average a triple-double in an entire season.
He recorded 36 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for his 20th triple-double in a season in a win over the Sacramento Kings. Westbrook joined Robertson who achieved the feat five times and Wilt Chamberlain, two times as the only players in NBA history to register 20 triple-doubles in a season.
Westbrook recorded three consecutive triple-doubles coming out of the All-star break earning him the 67th of his career and 30th in the season. He matched Wilt Chamberlain record for the second-most triple-doubles in a season on March 9, in a match against the San Antonio Spurs.

Westbrook became the first player in league history against 29 different opponents on October 28, after registering 12 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists in a 101-69 win over the Chicago Bulls.
