Paul George – Basketball Career
High School Career
George played basketball at the beginning of the season for the JV team in his sophomore year but was promoted to the varsity team after the season began. He was the only non-senior on the varsity team starting lineup in his junior year.
George began to garner attention in 2007 when he competed in the AAU tournaments. After putting up an incredible performance at the tournaments, his coach handed him leading role in his senior season.

George thus led Knights to the Golden League championship, he was named the Golden League Most Valuable Player, the Antelope Press Player of the Year, and was also a member of the Daily News 2007–2008 All-Area Boys’ basketball team.
George was not considered a major prospect by colleges despite his successes. Rivals.com designated him as a three-star recruit and rated him 20th among a class of California prospects. George committed verbally to the first school that offered him a scholarship, Santa Clara, but later de-committed after high school coach thought that he should keep his options open.
George committed to Pepperdine after a good experience while attending Teiosha’s Midnight Madness event in Pepperdine. He later de-committed midway through his senior year.
He then chose the Fresno State University despite offers from Georgetown and Penn State, because of greater opportunities for playing time.

That season, The Fresno State failed to qualify for the NCAA Tournament. George led the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) in minutes played and came second in 3-point shooting, steals and steals per game. In the 2013-2014 season, the Indiana Pacers extended his contract, electing him a designated player which will see him receive 30% of the team’s salary cap. George was fined $10,000 after criticizing referees after the Pacers 2015–2016 season opener against the Toronto Raptors. He earned Eastern Conference Player of the Month honours for the month of October and November in his season campaign.
He led the Eastern Conference in scoring and ranked fourth in the NBA. George also comped for the Eastern Conference in 2016 NBA All-Star Game where he emerged as the top-scorer.
