A disclosure related to Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been made by former BCCI president N Srinivasan. He said that after winning the 2011 World Cup, the selectors wanted to remove Mahendra Singh Dhoni from the captaincy of the Indian team. He further said that while exercising my rights as BCCI President, I spoke of retaining Mahendra Singh Dhoni as captain. Srinivasan had stated his decision to retain Mahendra Singh Dhoni as captain.
Talking to The Indian Express, Srinivasan said that after the 2011 World Cup, the selectors wanted to replace Mahendra Singh Dhoni as captain and keep him in the team. In England and Australia, the team had to undergo a clean sweep in the Test but the selectors wanted to remove them from the ODI captaincy. I exercised my rights and said that there is no reason to remove Mahendra Singh Dhoni from the ODI captaincy.I am saying this while exercising my rights as BCCI President. After this, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was retained in the post.
