CPL 2020 – Jamaica Tallawahs defeated St. Lucia Jokes

CPLs ( Caribbean Premier League ) continue to be comparable to 2020. In the third match of the CPL played on Wednesday, St. Lucia Jokes were defeated by Jamaica Tallawahs by 5 wickets. St. Lucia’s team scored 158 for 7 wickets in the first game.

Jamaica Tallawahs achieved the target by losing 5 wickets in the 19th over thanks to the quick innings of Glenn Phillips and Asif Ali. Asif Ali was adjudged Man of the Match. For Jamaica Tallawahs, Sandeep Lamichane made his CPL debut and took 1 wicket.

Roston Chase hits first CPL half-century

Jamaica Tallawahs captain Rovman Powell won the toss and decided to bowl. By 64 runs, St. Lucia’s team had lost 3 wickets. Mark Dayal was dismissed for 22 off 21 balls and Andre Fletcher scored 17 off 7 balls. Subsequently, Roston Chase and Najibullah Jadran shared a brilliant 52-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Roston Chase scored his first half-century of the CPL and scored 52 off 42 balls and Najibullah Jadran hit a 25-run knock off 21 balls. Finally Mohammad Nabi scored 13 runs off 9 balls. For Jamaica, Mujib Jadran took 2 wickets for just 25 runs.

Jamaica Tallawahs started off well to chase the target and they lost 2 wickets for just 13 runs. Captain Rowman Powell and Glenn Phillips then took over the innings and shared 63 runs for the third wicket.

Powell scored a quick knock of 44 off 17 balls with 26 and Phillips scoring just 29 balls with the help of 3 fours and 3 sixes. However, Andre Russell could score 16 runs off 17 balls.

In the end, Asif Ali scored an unbeaten 47 off 27 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes and Carlos Brathwaite scored an unbeaten 18 off 9 balls to reach his team’s target in 18.5 overs. In this way the Jamaican team won in their match of CPL.
