The 3-match T20 series between England and Pakistan started from Friday but the first match was canceled due to rain. The England team had scored 131 runs for 6 wickets in 16.1 overs before playing, but then it rained and the match had to be canceled.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and decided to bowl first. Johnny Bairstow’s wicket was soon lost by the England team and he returned to the pavilion after scoring 2 runs.
The pair of Tom Banton and David Malan handled the innings after losing the first wicket to score 3 runs. Both batsmen shared a tremendous partnership of 71 runs for the second wicket.
Tom Banton played a blistering innings for England
David Malan scored 23 runs off 23 balls. The most affected was Tom Banton, who scored a blistering 71 off 42 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes. However, after this England’s middle order was completely flopped. Captain Eoin Morgan was able to score 14 runs off 10 balls. Moeen Ali scored 8 runs and Sam Billings was 3 not out.
By 131 runs, the England team was looking very difficult after losing 6 wickets. All the leading batsmen of the team had returned to the pavilion. Only all-rounders like Chris Jordan and Tom Karan were at the crease but due to rain the match had to be stopped and after that the match could not start again.
For Pakistan, Imad Wasim took 2 wickets for 31 runs in 4 overs and Shadab Khan also took 2 wickets for 33 runs. The second match of the series between the two teams will be played on 30 August.
